Removing a distribution point is sometimes necessary when maintaining a Configuration Manager 2007 site. When you delete a distribution point, Configuration Manager does not remove that distribution point from packages. Therefore, plan to remove each package from a distribution point before you delete the distribution point site server from the Administrative console.
To remove a distribution point
-
Remove all distribution package folders and the SMSPKGSIG signature folder from the distribution point computer.
Important You must manually remove these components before removing the distribution point role. -
In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site name> / Site Settings / Site Systems.
-
Click the specific distribution point to be removed.
-
Right-click the ConfigMgr distribution point role in the results pane, and then click Delete.
-
Click Yes in the Confirm Delete dialog box.
