Getting Details about Running Services

Getting Details about Running Services

The MSSInfo tool enables administrators to get details about running services, such as Speech Engine Services (SES) and Telephony Application Services (TAS), at any given time.

MSSInfo provides:

  • Registry entries and perf counters of SES, TAS, and telephony interface manager (TIM)

  • A snapshot of the state of SES

  • Details about the Current Open Sessions

  • Details about the speech recognition (SR) and text-to-speech (TTS) engines, and the grammars/prompts cached

Note  The MSSInfo tool exposes registry settings. Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on the computer.

To run MSSInfo

  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

  2. In the command window, browse to the AdministrativeTools folder, which is typically located in the Microsoft Speech Server folder.

  3. To display the details on your console, type mssinfo.exe, and then click OK.

    –OR–

To output the details to a file, type mssinfo.exe > filename.ext , and then click OK. Supported file types include .TXT and .XML.

  4. At the prompt, type Y and then press ENTER.

Note  This prompt can be avoided by using the /f switch. For example, mssinfo.exe /f > filename.ext .
