Specifying Post-Install Settings

After installing Microsoft Speech Server (MSS), perform the following steps before verifying a successful installation:

  • Specify the Speech Engine Services (SES) URL (Enterprise Edition only)

  • Configure access control for SES (Enterprise Edition only)

  • Verify the IIS Connection Timeout Setting (both Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition)

To specify the SES URL

Perform this procedure on each computer that is running Telephony Application Services (TAS).

  1. Open the MMC Administration console. (For instructions, see MMC Administration Overview.)

  2. Open the applicable group.

  3. In the details pane, Right-click Telephony Application Services, and click Properties.

  4. Click the Telephony Services Configuration tab.

  5. Under Global Settings, in Speech Lobby URL, enter the URL to the SES lobby web service (Lobby.asmx), or to the load balancer for a SES server farm.

    For example: https://your Speech Engine Services server name/SES/Lobby.asmx 

To verify the IIS Connection Timeout setting

Verify that the Connection Timeout setting for Internet Information Services (IIS) on each computer running Speech Engine Services (SES) is not lower than the default of 120 seconds.

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Click Administrative Tools, click Internet Information Services Manager, right-click Default Web Site, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Web Site tab, verify that the value in Connection Timeout is set to 120 or higher.
