Setup Checklist for Enterprise Edition

Use this checklist when installing Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) 2004 R2 Enterprise Edition with:

Speech Engine Services (SES) and Telephony Application Services (TAS) on the same computer (single computer configuration).

SES on one or more dedicated computers, and TAS on one or more dedicated computers. TAS is needed when supporting telephony (voice-only applications).

Load balancing is required in server farms for access to computers running SES and TAS.

	Verify that Microsoft Windows Server 2003 is installed.	Installing Prerequisite Software
	Install and configure load balancing for the SES computers.	Load Balancing and Availability
	Install and configure a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) system for the TAS computers.	Load Balancing and Availability

	Verify that Web server software is installed on one or more dedicated computers.	Installing a Web Server
	For each TAS computer, verify that telephony interface manager (TIM) software and an associated telephony board are installed.	Installing Telephony Interface Manager Software
	For telephony (voice-only) systems, install MSS 2004 R2 and select the Complete Setup option. Note This option is typically used with a single computer configuration. If you are installing SES and TAS on separate computers, skip to the next step.	Installing Speech Server
	Install MSS on each TAS computer. On the Feature Selection page, select the Telephony Application Services check box.	Installing Speech Server

Remarks

All MSS deployments require at least one dedicated Web server computer. Multiple computers require load balancing. For more information, see Load Balancing and Availability.
