Installations Without Logging Functionality
Application Center uses the logging features to provide data in one place that would normally be available in many different places, or not at all. These feature can reduce administrative overhead for cluster management. These features are not available for Application Center installations without Application Center Events and Performance Logging.
The following table provides possible workarounds for some of these logging features.

Note Both Warning and Error events are written to the Windows Event Log. Informational events are not available.One reason to install Application Center without Application Center Events and Performance Logging is that less hard-disk space and CPU resources are used, compared to installing with it. This is usually only a concern for servers with resource problems that cannot be fixed by adding resources.
Reasons to install Application Center with Application Center Events and Performance Logging include:
Simplified administration.
Application Center represents a single-point-of-administration for clusters. Much of this benefit is lost without the centralized logging features.
Event management.
Many of the non-error level events are lost without the centralized logging features. These events might not be available in the Windows 2000 Event Viewer.
Special queries and reports.
Although not directly supplied by Application Center, specialized event queries and reports are simplified by the Application Center logging features.
Remote monitoring.
The Web-based monitoring that is provided by Application Center requires the use of the logging features. Web-based monitoring includes monitoring Web-accessible events, the performance counter chart, and cluster health.
