Application Center Monitors Schema

Application Center Monitors Schema

This hierarchy describes the schema of Application Center default monitors in the Health Monitor snap-in as Data Groups, Data Collectors, Thresholds, and Actions.

  • All Monitored Computers - This is all the computers that Health Monitor has information for. Potentially, this can be any computer in your domain, but you can connect only to computers for which you have the administrative privileges.

    • <Server Name> - The name of the server that you are connected to in the Application Center snap-in will automatically appear here. You can also connect in the Health monitor snap-in to any cluster member and view monitoring information.

      • Actions

        • Bring Server Online

        • Take Server Offline

        • Log to file : offline.log

        • Log to file : websitefailures.log

        • Email administrator The email address of this action is picked up from the value given in the Add Member Wizard or the Create Cluster Wizard. It can also be changed in the Health Monitor snap-in, by opening properties on the action and selecting the Details tab.

          Bb687510.note(en-us,TechNet.10).gif Note   If no default address is supplied to Application Center during cluster creation and no address is given in the Action's properties in Health Monitor, the mail action will fail.

      • Synchronized Monitors (Application Center) - All data collectors, thresholds, and data groups in this data group are synchronized to cluster members by Application Center synchronization.

        • Application Center Monitors

          • Application Center Log Monitors - These data collectors are disabled by default.

            • Log Agent Job Failure - This data collector monitors the Windows Applications Event Log for Microsoft SQL Server Agent job failure events. These data collectors are as follows:

              • (Instances > 0) Status -> Critical

              • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

            • Log Agent Service - This data collector monitors the Microsoft SQL Server Agent for start failure and other WMI errors.

              • (Started != True) Status -> Critical

              • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

            • Log Database Service - This data collector monitors the Application Center Log for start failure and other WMI errors.

              • (Started != True) Status -> Critical

              • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

            • Log Database Size - This data collector monitors the size of the Application Center Log.

              • (Data Files Size > 100 Mb) Status -> Critical

              • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

          • Cluster Service - This data collector monitors the Application Center Cluster service (ACCluster) for failures.

            • (Started != True) Status -> Critical

            • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

          • Health Monitor Action Failure - This data collector monitors Health Monitor actions for failures.

            • (Instances > 0) Status -> Critical

            • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

          • Synchronization Session Failure - This data collector monitors Application Center synchronization sessions for failures.

            • Email administrator (Status = Critical)

            • (Instances of EventID = 5038) Status -> Critical

            • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

          • Request Forwarding Failure - This data collector monitors Application Center Request Forwarding for failures.

            • Email administrator (Status = Critical)

            • (Instances of Request Forwarding Initialization Event type = 1 (error)) Status -> Critical

            • (WMI Error Code != 0) Status -> Critical

          • Server Offline - This data collector monitors the server for the Offline load balancing status.

            • Log to file : offline.log (Status = Normal, Warning, or Critical)

            • (Instances of EventID = 4016) Status -> Critical

          • Bring Server Online (Status = Normal)

          • Take Server Offline (Status = Critical)

          • W3SVC (Web Service) - This data collector monitors the Web service for failures and takes the server Offline if the service fails.

            • (Started != True) Status -> Critical
