Organization Configuration > Hub Transport > Global Settings > Transport Settings > Message Delivery Tab

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007 SP3, Exchange Server 2007 SP2, Exchange Server 2007 SP1

Use the Message Delivery tab to configure the following information for all Hub Transport servers in the Exchange organization:

  • The IP addresses of internal Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers that are installed in your perimeter network and are exempt from Sender ID and connection filtering.

    Note

If Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is deployed on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, you can enter IP addresses and IP address ranges in the Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) format, Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) format, or both formats. A default installation of Windows Server 2008 enables support for IPv4 and IPv6. For more information about Exchange 2007 SP1 support for IPv6 addresses, see IPv6 Support in Exchange 2007 SP1 and SP2.

  • The delivery status notification (DSN) codes that are monitored for internal message senders that cause the corresponding non-delivery report (NDR) to be copied to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient.

    Note

NDRs are copied to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient only when a mailbox is assigned to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient. By default, no mailbox is assigned to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient. For more information, see How to Copy NDRs to a Mailbox.

  • Enter the IP addresses for servers deployed in the perimeter and the range of IP addresses of your organization, which will be ignored by Sender ID and connection filtering
To add the IP addresses for internal SMTP servers that are exempt from Sender ID and connection filtering, use one of the following methods:

    • To enter an IP address or subnet without a subnet mask, or to specify the subnet mask by using Classless Interdomain Routing (CIDR) notation, click Add or the drop-down arrow located next to Add and select IP Address. In the Add Internal SMTP Server IP Address dialog box, enter the IP address by using one of the following methods:

      • IP address without a subnet mask   For example, 192.168.1.0. If you don't specify a subnet mask by using CIDR notation, the classful default subnet mask is assumed.

      • IP address by using CIDR notation   For example, 192.168.1.0/24.

    • To enter an IP address or subnet together with a subnet mask in dotted decimal notation, click the drop-down arrow located next to Add and select IP and Mask. In the Add Internal SMTP Server - IP and Mask dialog box, enter the IP address and the subnet mask by using the following syntax:

      • IP Address   For example, 192.168.1.0.

      • Subnet Mask   For example, 255.255.255.0.

    • To specify an IP address range by using the first IP address and the last IP address in the range, click the drop-down arrow located next to Add and select IP Range. In the Add Internal SMTP Server - IP Range dialog box, enter the IP address and the subnet mask by using the following syntax:

      • Start Address   For example, 192.168.1.1.

      • End Address   For example, 192.168.255.255.

Because you can't specify a subnet mask, the classful default subnet mask is assumed.

After you enter the IP address information, click OK.

To add more IP addresses or subnets, click Add or the drop-down arrow located next to Add and repeat this step.

To modify a previous entry, select the entry, and then click Edit.

To remove an existing entry, select the entry, and then click Remove icon.

  • Enter the delivery status notification (DSN) codes. DSN messages that have these DSN codes will be forwarded to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient
To specify the DSN codes that are monitored for internal message senders, perform one of the following steps:

    • To add a DSN code, enter the 3-digit DSN code as x.y.z, and then click Add.

    • To edit an existing DSN code, select the DSN code, and then click Edit. Modify the DSN code as necessary, and then press Enter.

    • To remove an existing DSN code, select the DSN code, and then click Remove icon.

    Note

NDRs are only copied to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient when a mailbox is assigned to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient. By default, no mailbox is assigned to the Microsoft Exchange Recipient. For more information, see How to Copy NDRs to a Mailbox.
