Dynamic Distribution Group Properties > Filter Tab (RTM)

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007

Use the Filter tab to configure a variety of restrictions for the dynamic distribution group. For example, you can select an organizational unit (OU) in the Active Directory directory service that contains the recipients you want to include in the dynamic distribution group. You can also specify the recipient types to include in the group.

For more information about managing dynamic distribution groups, see Managing Distribution Groups.

The following filter settings are available for a dynamic distribution group.

  • Select the recipient container where you want to apply this filter

    • Click Browse to select the OU for the dynamic distribution group. This opens the Select Organizational Unit dialog box. Select the OU you want, and then click OK.

    • A dynamic distribution group contains all recipients that are in the specified OU and any other OUs under it. By default, this OU is the Users container in the Active Directory domain that contains the Exchange server.

  • Include these recipient types

    • You can have the dynamic distribution group include all recipient types or only specific recipient types. For example, you can create a dynamic distribution group that contains only the resource mailboxes in your Exchange organization.
