How to Delete a Collection
Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2
Deleting a collection within Configuration Manager 2007 is done using the Delete Collection Wizard. This provides you with the opportunity to view the effects of deleting the collection from your site. The same process is used for deleting a subcollection.
When you delete a collection, that collection is removed completely from the Configuration Manager 2007 database. This deletion also removes the following:
Any instances of the collection that are subcollections of another collection.
Any subcollections of the collection that are not linked to or subcollections of another collection.
Any advertisements for the collection.
Any baselines for the collection.
Any software update deployments for the collection.
All security rights to the collection.
Because all subcollections are removed when you delete a collection, you should delete any such subcollections before deleting this collection. This will give you the opportunity to see the impact of deleting each of those subcollections individually. Deleting a collection using the Delete Collection Wizard only shows the effects of deleting that collection; it does not show the extended effects of deleting associated subcollections.
|You must have Delete permissions for the Collection security object type to remove a collection. For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager..|
