How to Encrypt Client Inventory Reports

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

By default, inventory reports from clients assigned to mixed mode sites are signed, but not encrypted. For further security of inventory report processing in Configuration Manager 2007 sites configured to operate in mixed mode, you can enable encryption of inventory reports sent by clients.

noteNote
By default, client inventory data is encrypted using SSL for Configuration Manager 2007 sites configured to operate in native mode.

To encrypt client inventory reports

  1. In the Configuration Manager console navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name>.

  2. Right click <site code> - <site name> and click Properties.

  3. Click the Site Mode tab.

  4. In the Client settings box, enable the Encrypt data before sending to Management Point check box.
