How to Open Report Viewer

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

Report Viewer in Configuration Manager 2007 can be opened from the Configuration Manager console or by using a Web browser. Report Viewer can be opened from any computer that has access to a reporting point and for users that have sufficient reporting security rights. Configuration Manager automatically creates the Reporting Users users group that can be used to manage which users have access to reports and dashboards. For more information, see Reporting Security Best Practices.

Use the following procedures to open Report Viewer from the Configuration Manager console and from a Web browser.

To open Report Viewer from the Configuration Manager console

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Reporting / Reports.

  2. Right-click the name of the desired report, and then click Run. The report will either open within the Configuration Manager console or a Web browser window will open and display the data. For information about configuring how reports and dashboards display when opened from the Configuration Manager Console, see How to Configure Report Options for a Site.

To open Report Viewer from a Web browser

  1. Open a Web browser, enter the URL for the reporting point, and then press Enter. The default URL for a reporting point is http://servername/SMSReporting_site code.

  2. All available reports, dashboards, and computer details are listed.
