How to Specify the Location of the NAP Health State Reference

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

When the Configuration Manager 2007 site server and System Health Validator points reside in the same Active Directory forest, the Configuration Manager NAP health state reference is located in the same Active Directory forest and the default settings can be used.

When the site server and System Health Validators are not in the same Active Directory forest, you must designate which Active Directory forest and which domain will be used to store and retrieve the NAP health state reference.

ImportantImportant
The Active Directory forest that will contain the NAP health state reference must be extended with the Configuration Manager 2007 schema extensions, have a System Management container, and Configuration Manager 2007 must be configured to publish to Active Directory. For information about how to extend the Configuration Manager 2007 schema and publish to Active Directory, see How to Extend the Active Directory Schema for Configuration Manager.

To specify the location of the health state reference:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name> / Site Settings / Component Configuration, right-click System Health Validator Point Component, and then click Properties.

  2. On the Health State Reference tab, click Designate an Active Directory forest.

  3. Under the section Active Directory forest settings, specify the fully qualified domain that will contain the health state reference in the field Domain suffix.

  4. Click OK.

noteNote
For more information about the options in this dialog box, see System Health Validator Point Component Properties: Health State Reference Tab.
