Exclude Specific File Types from Request Forwarding

You can optimize the performance of the request forwarder by limiting the types of files that are forwarded. Use the following procedure to specify which file types are not forwarded. For best results, keep the list of file types short and use one common extension for static files. For example, .htm instead of .htm and .html or .jpg instead of .jpg and .jpeg.

To exclude file types from request forwarding

  1. In the Application Center snap-in, right-click the cluster for which to modify the request forwarder settings.

  2. On the pop-up menu, click Properties.

The cluster_name Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Request Forwarding tab.

  4. In the To optimize performance, never forward the following content types box, enter the file extensions to exclude.

Requests for the specified file types are not forwarded by the request forwarder.

  5. Click OK.
