Application Center 2000 includes Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) and installs it by default. To minimize the risk of viruses, keep MSDE up to date with security patches.

Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2 contains MSDE Service Pack 3a, which includes all security patches available at the time of release. To protect against the Slammer virus, Application Center 2000 Service Pack 1 must be updated; visit the Microsoft Download Center to download this patch.
