Expense Reports Made Easy with Microsoft Office Solutions
Expense Reports Made Easy with Microsoft Office Solutions
Demonstration Overview
Published: July 15, 2005 | Updated: March 6, 2006
Microsoft created an expense reporting tool based on Microsoft® Office technologies.
The InfoPath® form provides highly mobile users with an intuitive, rich client,
expense reporting experience. It seamlessly connects to an existing backend expense
reporting system. Because of the ease of use and built-in controls, the tool is
expected to speed the submission of expense reports, while reducing redundant expense
reporting and the need for manual audits.
Introduction
A Web-based expense reporting tool and bill presentment model provided a streamlined
expense reporting experience for employees, but Microsoft wanted to provide its
workforce with the opportunity to make use of productive time where network connectivity
is not available.
The Corporate Services IT group used Microsoft Office technologies to create an
InfoPath expense reporting form. Built-in Web services connectivity allows the form
to interface seamlessly with the existing backend expense reporting system.
Business intelligence built into the tool reduces both duplicate expense reporting
and the need for manual audits. When broadly adopted, Microsoft expects to reduce
its corporate credit card turnaround time by 20%, which will in turn enhance its
rebate from card providers.
