How to Modify the Hardware Configuration of a Virtual Machine

Use the following procedure to update the hardware configuration of a virtual machine by modifying the virtual machine properties. You can modify a virtual machine's properties whether the virtual machine is deployed or stored in the library.

To modify the hardware configuration of a virtual machine

  1. On the Hardware Configuration tab in Virtual Machine Properties, modify any of the following types of settings:

    CPU requirements—See How to Configure CPU Requirements for a Virtual Machine.

    RAM—See How to Configure the Amount of Memory for a Virtual Machine.

    Floppy drive—See How to Configure the Floppy Drive for a Virtual Machine.

    IDE devices—See How to Configure IDE Devices for a Virtual Machine.

    SCSI adapters—See How to Add and Configure SCSI Adapters for a Virtual Machine.

    Network Adapters—See How to Add and Configure Network Adapters for a Virtual Machine

    Resource allocation on the host—See How to Configure Virtual Machine Priority for Host CPU Resources.

  2. To apply the settings, click Apply or OK.
