Purging business data

Updated: 2009-04-30

Business data resides in the application database and the staging database. Business data usually is stored in the Measure Group tables (MG_* tables). It will be necessary to periodically purge Measure Group tables (MG_* tables).

The business data in the application database can be purged based on members in the time dimension (for example, purge all data older than Fiscal Year 2007 by the members in the time dimension) or by filtering by creation/modification time range (for example, based on CreateDatetime or ChangeDatetime column in the MG_* tables).

The business data in the staging database can be purged based on the BizSystemFlag values. After the data in successfully loaded into the application database, the BizSystemFlag value is set to 100. These rows do need to be maintained in the staging database.
