Upgrade Checklist and Roadmap

This checklist includes the tasks that are necessary to migrate protected servers from DPM 2006 to DPM 2007.

Select the DPM 2006 protection groups to migrate. |

Identify the DPM 2007 servers to which you will migrate the DPM 2006 protection groups. |

Schedule the order and timing for migrating data for each protected server. |

Back up archived reports on the DPM 2006 server. |

Deploy DPM 2007. |

Run the MigrateDPM2006 tool by using the -exportSettings parameter. |

Remove the data sources from protection on the DPM 2006 server. |

Uninstall the DPM 2006 file agent from the protected servers. |

Install the DPM 2007 protection agent on the protected servers. |

Run the MigrateDPM2006 tool by using the -importSettings parameter. |

Change protection group settings for migrated protection groups as needed. |
