How to Erase a Tape
Applies To: System Center Data Protection Manager 2007
You can reuse an expired tape without erasing the contents of the tape. However, you can erase a tape to remove sensitive or critical information, if you choose.
In DPM Administrator Console, click Management on the navigation bar, and then click the Libraries tab.
In the display pane, expand the tape library or stand-alone tape drive and select the tape that you want to erase.
In the Actions pane, click Erase tape.
Use the following syntax to erase a tape:
Start-TapeErase [-Tape] <Media[]> [[-JobStateChangeHandler] <JobStateChangedEventHandler> ] [-Verbose] [-Debug] [-ErrorAction <ActionPreference> ] [-ErrorVariable <String> ] [-OutVariable <String> ] [-OutBuffer <Int32> ]
For more information, type "Get-Help Start-TapeErase -detailed" in DPM Management Shell.
For technical information, type "Get-Help Start-TapeErase -full" in DPM Management Shell.
