Troubleshoot the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel

The following table shows some common troubleshooting issues and resolutions along with commands to use with the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel diagnostics tool. Use the procedure and the table below to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel.

PivotTable Services 8.0 is the OLE DB provider for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services and is used to connect with an Analysis Services 2000 server. PivotTable Services does not work with SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. Therefore, client applications that connect to Analysis Services in both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Sever 2005 will need to install both PivotTable Services 8.0 and Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider in a side-by-side configuration.

If connection to a server that runs SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services is required, you will need to install Pivot Table Services 8.0 first and then install Pivot Table Services 9.0 after. If this is done out of order, errors may occur that refer to an incorrect version of Pivot Table Services 8.0 SP2.
