Published: December 16, 2009

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

Once you have identified the target down-level Client Security deployments and installed the Enterprise Manager Client Security instance on the target Enterprise Manager server, you must install the Enterprise Manager components on the down-level Client Security deployments and the Enterprise Manager server.

Before installing the Enterprise Manager components on the down-level servers and the Enterprise Manager server, verify you have completed the following.

Task Your notes

All down-level Client Security deployments have been updated with the most recent Client Security updates. These updates are also incorporated into Client Security Service Pack 1; if you have installed Service Pack 1 or later, you do not need to install the individual updates.

The Enterprise Manager server has been updated with the most recent Client Security updates, including the most recent versions of Microsoft Knowledge Base article 940060 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=99957), Microsoft Knowledge Base article 943846 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=110594), and Microsoft Knowledge Base article 942262 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=99958). These updates are also incorporated into Client Security Service Pack 1; if you have installed Service Pack 1 or later, you do not need to install the individual updates.

You have backed up the down-level Client Security collection and reporting databases.

The operating system on both the down-level servers and the Enterprise Manager server is up-to-date.

You must download the Enterprise Manager components from the following location: FCSEnterpriseManager.msi (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=98850).

After you have installed the Enterprise Manager component, the Enterprise Manager down-level installer (FCSEnterpriseManagerDLS.msi) can be found in the Client Security installation directory (by default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront\Client Security\Server).
