Activating Office Communications Server
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.
The Activate action should be used after respective server files are installed. It creates Active Directory settings for the server while assigning a service account and permissions. The Activate action deploys the following server roles:
Standard Edition Servers
Audio/Video Conferencing Servers
Web Components Servers
Web Conferencing Servers
Front-End Servers
Archiving and CDR Servers
Enterprise Edition Servers
Proxy Servers
WorkGroupProxy
Edge Servers
Mediation Servers
Before beginning this task for any Office Communications Server joined to an Active Directory domain, all ForestPrep and DomainPrep actions should all be successfully completed. After running each action, verify that the task was successful by running the CheckLCServerState command as detailed in the section, Other Server Actions.
