Introduction to the Office Communications Server 2007 Supportability Guide

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

The Microsoft® Office Communications Server 2007 Supportability Guide is a central, high-level reference for supported Office Communications Server 2007 topologies and configurations. This guide identifies the following supported server and client configurations for Office Communications Server 2007:

  • All supported configurations for Microsoft® Office Communications Server 2007, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition.

  • All supported configurations for Enterprise Voice, the software-powered VoIP solution that is new with Office Communications Server 2007.

  • All supported configurations of Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access (2007 release), included with both editions of Office Communications Server 2007.

  • All supported configurations of Office Communications Server 2007 clients, including Office Communicator 2007, the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client, the Add-In for the Microsoft Office Outlook® communication and collaboration client, the Communicator Web Access client, and Communicator Mobile (2007 release).

  • All supported migration scenarios from Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 to Office Communications Server 2007.

  • All supported coexistence configurations in which Office Communications Server 2007 interoperates with Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1.

    If a configuration is not identified as supported in this document, either explicitly or by reference to another document, then it is an unsupported configuration, even if it might work. Although it is not the intent of this guide to describe unsupported configurations, some unsupported configurations are identified for clarity.

This guide contains the following main sections:

  • Required Infrastructure. Identifies the required infrastructure for Office communications Server 2007.

  • Supported Topologies. Identifies all supported topologies for Office Communications Server 2007. This section distinguishes between deployment size, network segment, logical components, and specific server roles making up the logical components.

Figure 1 shows the three network segments with their logical components described in this guide.
