Enterprise Voice in Office Communications Server

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

The supported Enterprise Voice configurations are as follows:

  • Coexistence of Office Communications Server and PBX. Integration of Office Communications Server and a TDM (time division multiplexing) PBX through a media gateway

  • Office Communications Server alone

    • Departmental scenario (PBX in the organization, but not integrated with Enterprise Voice)

    • Greenfield scenario (no PBX in organization, integrated or otherwise, except for fax and other analog services)

All scenarios require at least one media gateway that is configured in one of three supported configurations:

  • Basic media gateway. Mediation Server separate from media gateway.

  • Basic hybrid media gateway. Mediation Server collocated with media gateway.

  • Advanced media gateway. Mediation Server logic integrated into gateway; support for this configuration is planned.

Integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging (UM) provides call answering, subscriber access, and auto-attendant services to Office Communications Server Enterprise Voice deployments. For specific supported configurations, see the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Planning Guide and the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Enterprise Voice Planning and Deployment Guide.
