Capacity Model Constraints - Exchange

One of the following misconfiguration messages appear when an Exchange Server constraint occurs in the capacity model:

  • You have requested Standby Continuous Replication to <StandByDatacenters> standby datacenters, but only <MailboxSites> Mailbox Site(s) were marked as being standby datacenters.
  • There must be at least one Client Access Server.
  • At least one Client Access Server must be present in the same site as every Mailbox server.
  • At least one Hub Transport Server must be present in the same site as every Edge Transport Server.
  • The Inbox client type must always be present.
  • All clients must be mapped to a Mailbox Server.
  • Client <ClientName> in site <SiteName> must be mapped to <ServerName>
  • Outlook Anywhere clients must have a Client Access Server in the same site as their Mailbox Server.
  • Outlook Web Access clients must have a Client Access Server in the same site as their Mailbox Server.
  • There cannot be more than 200,000 mailboxes.
  • There must be at least one mailbox.
  • There must be at least one Hub Transport Server.
  • There must be at least one Mailbox Server.
  • At least one Hub Transport Server must be present in the same site as every Mailbox server.
  • The <RoleA> and <RoleB> roles cannot be installed on the same computer.
  • Multiple Mailbox Server roles cannot be installed on the same computer.

Typically, one of these adjustment messages appears when you have modified a capacity model by removing or adding a software role that is required, or when a server role has been added to a server that conflicts with another server role. The table below describes server roles, and how they can and cannot be collocated with other components.
