How to Add a Computer Configuration in the Hardware Editor

Use the following procedure to add a computer configuration to the device library. If you need to add devices to a computer configuration that are not already defined, see How to Add a Device in the Hardware Editor. After you add a computer configuration to the device library, you can apply it to a server in the Model Editor.

Note

Some software components modeled by Capacity Planner require 64-bit processors.

To add a computer configuration in the Hardware Editor

  1. Navigate to the Computer configurations page.

  2. Click New Computer.

  3. In the view list, click CPU and then click the CPU device configuration that you want to add to the new computer configuration then click Add Device.

  4. If you want to add a single disk to the computer configuration, in the view list, click Single Disk, click the disk device configuration, and then click Add Device.

  5. Repeat step 4 for any additional single disks that you want to add.

  6. If you need to add a disk array, in the view list, click Disk Array, click the disk configuration that you want to add to the new computer configuration, and then click Add Device.

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the computer configuration list, and click the name of the new device configuration you are creating.

  8. Type a descriptive name for the computer configuration.

  9. On the File menu, click Save hardware library.
