Internet E-Mail Requirements - Exchange
One of the following misconfiguration messages appear when the capacity model is missing a required server role or WAN connection to the Internet:
Every Edge Transport Server must be in a site with a WAN connection to the Internet.To send email to the internet, there must be at least one site with a WAN connection to the InternetTo receive email from the Internet, there must be at least one Edge Transport Server in a site with a WAN connection to the Internet.To receive email from the Internet, there must be at least one site with a WAN connection to the Internet.
Typically, one of these adjustment messages appear when you have modified a capacity model and removed a WAN or WAN connection to the Internet or when you have removed a required server component from the capacity model.
To make the required adjustments, use one or more of the following procedures:
- To add WANs to the capacity model in the How to Add a New Site or New WAN to the Capacity Model topic to add a WAN representing the Internet
- To add a WAN connection in the Model Editor in the How to Add a Site-to-Site Connection or a WAN Connection in the Model Editor topic to add a WAN connection from an edge server to the Internet
- To edit a server role in the Model Editor in the How to Edit a Server Hardware Configuration or a Server Role in the Model Editor topic to add a required server role to an existing server
