Introduction

This guide is intended to serve as a part of Microsoft® Deployment Solution Accelerator documentation, to guide a specialist team through Microsoft Deployment for Windows® operating systems and the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and is designed to provide sample configuration settings for specific desktop deployment scenarios. Microsoft Deployment is the next version of Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) 2007.

Note   In this document, Windows applies to the Windows Vista®, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Windows Server® 2008, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems unless otherwise noted.

To use this guide, complete the following steps:

  1. Review the list of scenario topics under “Contents” (starting on page iii of this guide).

  2. Select the scenario that most closely represents the environment of the team’s deployment goals.

  3. Review the sample configuration settings for the scenario selected.

  4. Use the sample configuration settings as the foundation for the configuration settings.

  5. Customize the sample configuration settings for the environment.

In many instances, more than one scenario may be necessary to complete the configuration settings for an environment.

Because this guide contains only sample configuration settings, reviewing the guides listed in Table 1 can further assist in customizing the configuration settings for the environment.
