SCRM 2006 Prerequisites

System Center Reporting Manager (SCRM) 2006 has several prerequisites that must be met before you can successfully install SCRM 2006. Most prerequisites are discussed in the Getting Started Guide for SCRM 2006, which is included with the SCRM 2006 CD. However, the following sections contain detailed and updated information that you should consider before you install SCRM 2006.

Installation Limitations

You cannot install SCRM 2006 on a server that hosts any of the following roles:

  • SMS site database

  • MOM database

  • Domain controller

  • Clustered server

Administrative Credentials Required

You must be a member of the local Administrators group on the server where SCRM 2006 will be installed. You must also have administrative access to the SQL server where the SCRM data warehouse is installed. If you do not have this access, you should consult with your SQL Server administrator. For additional information about administrative credentials and other details about SCRM 2006 installation, see the Getting Started Guide for SCRM 2006 Administrators, included with SCRM 2006.

Supported SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Configurations

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) must already be installed and configured before you can install SCRM 2006. Although SQL Server 2005 and SSRS support a scaled-out deployment model configuration using clustered servers, SCRM 2006 does not support clustered servers. SCRM 2006 supports only the standard deployment model, which consists of a single report server instance that uses a local or remote SQL Server Database Engine to host the report server database. You can choose one of the following two configurations with the SSRS standard deployment model:

Single Server Configuration

  • Report Manager installed on server A

  • Report Server installed on server A

  • Report Server Database installed on server A

Multiple Server Configuration

  • Report Manager installed on server A

  • Report Server installed on server A

  • Report Server Database installed on remote server B

Required SQL Server 2005 Codepage

The server that hosts SSRS must be configured with the SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation. The same codepage (default collation) used by the SMS site database must also be used by the SQL server where the SCRM data warehouse is installed. However, SMS clients can use a codepage that differs from the SMS site database. This codepage is found in the LocaleID property of the Win32_OperatingSystem class in the client's hardware inventory.

SCRM 2006 Disk Space Planning

Before you install SCRM 2006 and add data sources, you need to ensure that adequate free disk space is available both for the SCRM 2006 databases and for the SMS file share. The following table lists both required and recommended database sizes for you to use when you plan for needed disk space for the SCRM 2006 server.
