When Firewall Configuration Is Needed

If Windows Firewall is enabled on the DPM server when you install DPM, DPM Setup configures the firewall automatically. In the following circumstances, however, you will need to configure the firewall yourself:

  • If you are using firewall software other than Windows Firewall or if you enable Windows Firewall after you install DPM, you must configure the firewall on the DPM server.

  • If a firewall is enabled on the file server, you must disable the firewall to install, update, or uninstall the file agent, and then configure the firewall on the file server.
