Using DpmSync to Restore Databases

DpmSync is a command-line tool that enables you to synchronize the DPM database with the state of the disks in the storage pool and with the installed file agents. The DpmSync tool restores the DPM database, synchronizes the DPM database with the replicas on the storage pool, restores the Report database, and reallocates missing replicas.

If you upgraded the DPM server to DPM 2006 from the evaluation edition of DPM, ensure that the account MICROSOFT$DPM$ACCT has “Full Control” permissions on the DPM installation folder “DPMDB” before you run DpmSync. The DPMDB installation path can be found in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Setup\DatabasePath. The default location is \Program Files\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM\DPMDB.
