Published : September 27, 2005

The DPM 2006 Operations Guide is available on the Data Protection Manager TechNet site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=46363).

Audience

The primary audience for the DPM 2006 Operations Guide is the IT administrator who will administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Data Protection Manager. This guide is intended for use by both novice and experienced IT administrators who will be maintaining DPM in their organizations. It is assumed that the administrator who uses this guide is already familiar with DPM Administrator Console and the configuration tasks that are covered in the Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2006 Planning and Deployment Guide.

Scope

By using this guide, administrators will learn how to monitor DPM; manage the impact of data protection operations on network performance; handle alerts, reports, and resource warnings; recover data; archive and restore DPM and file servers; and troubleshoot the most common issues. The DPM 2006 Operations Guide will provide administrators with the information that they need to manage ongoing data protection operations and to resolve protection, performance, and recovery issues.

For a description of topics covered in other DPM documentation, see “Other DPM Documentation,” later in this section.
