Hardware Requirements

The DPM server must have at least two disks: one disk that is dedicated to the system and DPM installation files, and one that is dedicated to the storage pool.

Note

For purposes of DPM, disk is defined as any disk device manifested as a disk in Disk Management. For information about the types of disks that the storage pool supports, see “Choosing Sources for Storage Capacity” in the “Planning a Deployment” chapter of this guide.

Table 4.1 lists general hardware requirements for the DPM server. For information about configuring DPM to support specific workloads, see “Determining the DPM to File Server Ratio” in the “Planning a Deployment” chapter of this guide.
