New or changed members found

Published : April 8, 2005 | Updated : August 17, 2005

Summary

As part of the auto discovery process, Data Protection Manager (DPM) queries the protected file servers once each day to discover configuration changes to the volumes or shares that are protected in DPM. If new volumes or shares are added, or existing volumes or shares are remapped or deleted during this process, a “New or changed members found” alert is generated and the data sources are identified as “pending” group members. You can review pending members in the Protection task area and decide whether you want to add them to or remove them from your existing protection groups.

Causes

Auto discovery runs daily to discover configuration changes to the file servers on the network. During this process, changes to volumes or shares on protected file servers were detected.

Resolutions

To protect new or remapped volumes or shares, review pending members and add them to the protection group. If you do not take action for all pending members, the alert will continue to be reported as active. For more information, see How to review pending members.

To avoid synchronization alerts for a protected volume or share that has been removed from a file server, stop protecting the member. For more information, see How to review pending members.
