How to Manage Computers Using the AMT Web Console

Topic last updated—May 2008

You can use the Intel AMT Web console as an alternative to running the out of band management console in Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 to manage AMT-based computers. Refer to the Intel documentation for more information about this Web console.

noteNote
To support the AMT Web console, computers must be configured with the option Enable Web interface in the following location: Out of Band Management Properties: AMT Settings Tab.

If you are running Internet Explorer 6, you will need the hotfix to use the Kerberos authentication protocol to connect to a Web site that uses a nonstandard port. For more information about this hotfix, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=112179. After installing the hotfix, follow the post-hotfix installation instructions to modify the registry. If you do not need to install the hotfix because you have the file versions listed in the hotfix documentation, you must still follow the instructions to modify the registry.

Use the following procedure to manage computers using the Intel AMT Web console.

noteNote
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

To manage computers using the AMT Web console

  1. From a Web browser, type https://<FQDN_of_computer>:16993.

    noteNote
If your Web browser uses a proxy Web server, you might have to configure the computer's FQDN as an exception in your Web browser so that the connection does not use the proxy Web server for this connection on the intranet.

  2. Click Log On, and supply an AMT User Account and credentials.

  3. When you have finished using the AMT Web console, close the Web browser.
