Updated: April 1, 2010

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

Configuration Manager requires a connection to System Center Online to synchronize Asset Intelligence catalog information.

noteNote
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

To connect to System Center Online

  1. If you are running Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, obtain a System Center Online authentication certificate from your Microsoft account representative. Store the System Center Online authentication certificate (.pfx) file securely on a network share location and ensure that you can access it from the Configuration Manager console.

    ImportantImportant
If you are running Configuration Manager 2007 SP2, you do not need a System Center Online certificate.

  2. Install the Asset Intelligence synchronization point site system role. After this role is installed, it automatically connects to System Center Online to synchronize Asset Intelligence catalog information by using the schedule that you specify. For more information, see How to Install an Asset Intelligence Synchronization Point.
