The Import Computer for Out of Band Management Wizard in Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 imports new computer information into the Configuration Manager database. This allows administrators to provision computers for AMT when those computers do not have the Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 client installed, including computers that currently have no operating system installed.
Note |
|
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later. |
The wizard is also used to migrate AMT-based computers from another AMT-based solution to Configuration Manager. For more information about migrating, see Decide How to Migrate from an AMT-Based Management Solution to Out of Band Management in Configuration Manager.
Information for one or more computers can be imported by using a file that contains the appropriate computer information, or the information for a single computer can be imported by specifying the appropriate information in the wizard.
Important |
|
If there is an existing computer record in the Configuration Manager 2007 database for the computer that is imported with the wizard, the new computer information will update the existing computer information so that it can be provisioned out of band. |
For more information about provisioning computers for AMT, see How to Provision Computers for AMT.
To run the Import Computer for Out of Band Management Wizard, you must have the security right Import computer entry, which is granted at the Site object class level. Additionally, you must have the security right of Read for the Collections class and the security right of Modify for the collection selected in the wizard that will contain the imported computers. For more information about configuring security rights in the Configuration Manager console, see Overview of Configuration Manager Object Security and WMI.
To run the wizard, right-click the Collections node, and then click Import Out of Band Computers.
