Using the MOM 2005 SP1 Setup program, you can access the Release Notes and update MOM 2005 to MOM 2005 Service Pack 1.

Location of the MOM 2005 SP1 Setup Program

The Setup program for the service pack update is located in the SP1UpdateCDImage folder on the CD. If you downloaded the update from the MOM Downloads Web Site, the Setup program is located in the SP1UpdateCDImage subfolder that was created when you extracted the files from the MOM2005SP1-X86-ENU.exe file. You must run the Setup program on all the computers where you want to install the update.

Running the MOM 2005 SP1 Setup Program

To start the Setup program, run setup.exe. The Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Service Pack 1 screen provides the following options:

  • Review the MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 Release Notes.

  • Apply MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 Software Updates. Click this link to start the Microsoft Operations Manager Software Update Wizard. Follow the wizard dialog through to completion.

    This wizard automatically detects which MOM 2005 components are installed on the target computer and then updates those components accordingly. Use this link to update any MOM Management Server, Database Server, any computer on which the MOM user interface is installed, and manually installed agents that cannot be updated using push agent install.

  • Apply MOM 2005 Reporting Service Pack 1 Software Updates. Click this link to start the Microsoft Operations Manager Software Update Wizard. Follow the wizard dialog through to completion.

Note   To ensure the successful update of all the MOM components, setup.exe must be used to launch the update.
