Overview of Upgrading MOM 2000 Management Packs

MOM 2005 supports upgrading from MOM 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Upgrading the MOM infrastructure effects Management Packs in several ways:

  • Installed Management Packs should upgrade seamlessly.

  • Upgraded Management Packs should work with MOM 2005 configurations.

  • Microsoft Access-based reporting is not migrated.

MOM 2000 SP1 Management Packs work on MOM 2005 without modification and should work with the following new MOM 2005 functionality:

  • Agentless monitoring

  • 64 bit (and deprecated script helper objects)

  • New reporting console (Microsoft Access-based reporting is not migrated)

  • Core support for cluster monitoring

To overcome potential compatibility issues, only installing MOM 2005 Management Packs after every agent in a configuration group is upgraded to MOM 2005. Installing MOM 2005 Management Packs in a mixed or MOM 2000 environment, is not supported.
