Flowcharts

Sometimes the most effective troubleshooting method is to closely trace a process or a component, comparing the actual results from each step to the expected results to find out which step is failing.

To trace the management point processes, you can trace the activity of the individual components that participate in that process. To trace the activity of components, you can view status messages in the SMS Administrator console or you can enable the appropriate log files. You can then study the status messages and log files to trace the activity that is occurring on your SMS system and compare it to the expected activity described in the corresponding flowchart.
