Upgrading MOM 2000 SP1 on Multiple Computers to MOM 2005

If you are upgrading a MOM 2000 SP1 configuration group to a MOM 2005 management group and you have MOM components installed on more than one computer, you must upgrade the MOM 2000 SP1 components in the following order:

  1. MOM Administrator console installed on a separate computer

  2. MOM database

    Note

If possible, groom the MOM Database prior to the upgrade, and verify the database size is within the recommended range and has sufficient free space. This will make the upgrade process faster and reduce the size of the first transfer of data to the MOM 2005 Reporting Database

  3. DCAMs

  4. Agents

  5. Reporting

  6. Management Packs

Figure 10.1 shows the steps for upgrading a MOM 2000 SP1 configuration group with MOM components installed on separate computers within a distributed environment.
