Manage shared services permissions for people and audiences

Use the Manage Permissions: Shared Service Rights page to control access to shared service rights for people and audiences.

To open the Manage Permissions: Shared Service Rights page, do the following:

  1. Open the administration page for the Shared Services Provider (SSP).

    To open the administration page for the SSP, do the following:

    1. On the top navigation bar, click Application Management.

    2. On the Application Management page, in the Office SharePoint Server Shared Services section, click Create or configure this farm’s shared services.

    3. On the Manage this Farm’s Shared Services page, click the SSP whose administration page you want to open.

  2. On the Shared Services Administration Home page, in the User Profiles and My Sites section, click Personalization services permissions.

What do you want to do?

Add users or groups

  1. On the Manage Permissions: Shared Service Rights page, click Add Users/Groups.

  2. On the Add User/Groups: Shared Service Rights page, in the Users/Groups box, type individual names, group names, or e-mail addresses. Use semicolons between each of the items that you type.

  3. In the Choose Permissions section, select the permissions that you want to assign to your users and groups. If you add an existing user, that user's current rights will be overwritten with the permissions that you select on this page.

Remove selected users

  1. On the Manage Permissions: Shared Service Rights page, select the users or groups that you want to remove.

  2. Click Remove Selected Users.

  3. Click OK in the message box that asks whether you want to proceed with the removal.

Modify permissions of selected users

  1. On the Manage Permissions: Shared Service Rights page, select the users or groups whose permissions you want to modify.

  2. Click Modify Permissions of Selected Users.

  3. On the Modify Permissions: Shared Service Rights page, in the Choose Permissions section, select or clear the check boxes and then click Save.
