A server farm that is running Office SharePoint Server 2007 can connect to a single Records Center site. When a farm is connected to a Records Center site, records can be submitted to the Records Center site from the Office SharePoint Server 2007 user interface or by using a custom solution, such as a workflow developed by using the Office SharePoint Server 2007 object model. If the Records Center is located in a different server farm than the one from which the records are being submitted, the workflow and connection should be configured on the collaboration server farm as opposed to the Records Center server farm.

Task Requirements

You must have created a Records Center site before you perform the following procedure. For information, see Create a Records Center site.

Important

Membership in the Farm Administrators SharePoint group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

Specify a Records Center site for a server farm

  1. In Office SharePoint Server 2007 Central Administration, click the Application Management tab.

  2. On the Application Management page, in the External Service Connections section, click Records center.

  3. On the Configure Connection to Records Center page, in the Records Center Connection section, select Connect to a Records Center.

  4. In the URL box, type the URL where the Records Center Web Service is located.

    Note

This must be the full path to officialfile.asmx — for example, http://Records Center URL/_vt_bin/officialfile.asmx.

  5. In the Display name box, type the friendly name for the Records Center site. Users submitting files to the Records Center site from the Office SharePoint Server 2007 user interface will see this name.

  6. Click OK.
