How to: View an Audit Log

To view an audit log, use Object Explorer in SQL Server Management Studio to carry out the following procedure. This example uses the Audit object named "ServerAudit1". For more information, see How to: Create a Server Audit and Server Audit Specification.

To view an audit log

  1. In Object Explorer, recursively expand the Security node down to Audits.

  2. Right-click ServerAudit1 and then click View Audit Logs. This action opens the Log File Viewer, which you can use view the audit log. For more information about using this viewer, click Help.

  3. Click Close when you are finished viewing the log.
