Deletesite: Stsadm operation (Windows SharePoint Services)   The gradualdelete parameter was added in the April Cumulative Update to perform gradual deletion of site collections. If this parameter is present, SharePoint marks the site collection as deleted to prevent further access while a SharePoint Timer job gradually deletes the data in the site collection.

Job-gradual-site-deletion: Stsadm property (Windows SharePoint Services)   This property was added in the April Cumulative Update to perform gradual deletion of site collections. It allows a site collection to be marked deleted, which immediately prevents any further access to its content.

Pre-upgrade scanning and reporting for future releases (Windows SharePoint Services)   This article describes how to use the Stsadm preupgradecheck operation to scan farm servers before starting an upgrade to ensure that some upgrade prerequisites are met and to detect known issues that can prevent the upgrade from completing successfully. The results of the scan enable you to address any issues that are identified.
