Foxit PDF IFilter must be reinstalled after installing a software update (Office SharePoint Server 2007)

If you installed the Foxit PDF IFilter on the index server, the IFilter does not work after you install a software update.

Cause

When you update Office SharePoint Server 2007, the registry settings for the Foxit PDF IFilter are overwritten.

Resolution

You must reinstall the Foxit IFilter after performing a Office SharePoint Server 2007 software update.

Just rekey the registry key .pdf

Actually, it is the registry key that gets overwritten and this is equally true for adobe iFilter on the 64 bits version. Look for the .pdf key in search and office search as per installation instruction on Adobe site and blogs. Just rekey and everything should be fine.

The issue is that the key gets repopulated with the 32 bits iFilter Adobe GUID when running SP2 or any Cumulative Upgrade. This affect if you have the 64 bit version of adobe iFilter or other iFilter from third party products.
