About the AMT Provisioning and Discovery Account

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The AMT Provisioning and Discovery Account is functionally equivalent to the AMT Remote Admin Account and resides in the Management Engine BIOS extension (MEBx) of AMT-based computers. This account is used by the server running the out of band service point role to manage some network interface features of AMT in Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, by using the out of band management feature. The AMT Provisioning and Discovery Account specified in Configuration Manager must match the AMT Remote Admin Account name and password specified in the BIOS extensions in the AMT-based computers.

noteNote
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

You must specify an AMT Provisioning and Discovery Account in either of the following migration scenarios:

  • The AMT Remote Admin account has been specified by another AMT management solution, the AMT-based computer has had its provisioning information removed, and you want to provision it with Configuration Manager, using in-band AMT provisioning by using the Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 client.

  • The AMT Remote Admin account has been specified by another AMT management solution, the AMT-based computer has had its provisioning information removed, and you want to provision it with Configuration Manager, using out of band AMT provisioning by using the Import Computer for Out of Band Management Wizard and you will not specify the AMT Remote Admin Account in the wizard for each computer.

Specify the account name and password on the Provisioning Settings tab of the Out of Band Management component properties. During the AMT provisioning and discovery process, each AMT Provisioning and Discovery account specified will be tried in turn.
