View Computer and Device Information

The Windows EBS Administration Console provides information about computers and devices. To access this information, click the Computers and Devices tab, and then click Managed Computers and Devices. The results pane lists the computers and devices that are managed by System Center Essentials or that have an Active Directory Domain Services account in the root domain.

For computers that are managed by System Center Essentials, the details pane provides additional information about the computer. In addition, the Windows EBS Administration Console provides tasks that link to System Center Essentials for detailed device information and performance information.

Note

You must use an account that is in the Domain Admins group to perform this procedure.

To view computer information in the Administration Console

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Computers and Devices tab, and in the results pane, click a computer name.

  3. View the details pane for the following information about the computer:

    • Recent Alerts on the computer
    • Device Information, including the full name, IP address, and basic hardware profile
    • Disk Space Usage on the disk drives
    • Updates status on the computer
    • Server Roles that are installed (for the servers for Windows EBS)

You must use an account that is in the Domain Admins group to perform this procedure.

To view detailed computer information in System Center Essentials

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Computers and Devices tab. In the results pane, click a managed computer name, and then in the tasks pane, click View computer details. The System Center Essentials console opens to display hardware and software details for the computer.

To view the performance of the computer in System Center Essentials

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Essential Business Server, and then click Windows Essential Business Server Administration Console.

  2. Click the Computers and Devices tab. In the results pane, click a managed computer name, and then in the tasks pane, click View performance. The System Center Essentials console opens to display performance information about the computer.
