Configure Outlook for RPC-HTTP and Log On

In this topic, you will first configure a Microsoft Outlook 2003 client to connect to the Exchange Client Access Server using remote procedure call (RPC) over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The RPC-HTTP Configuration Web Site is used to download the files for this. Next, you will test the configuration of the Outlook 2003 client which connects to the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Client Access Server using RPC over HTTP.

Note

The RPC-HTTP Configuration Web site is only designed to configure RPC over HTTP for Outlook 2003 clients. Outlook 2007 client users should instead use the AutoDiscovery feature of Outlook and Exchange Server 2007 to configure an Outlook Anywhere profile.

Also note that both Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 clients required a trusted Certificate from a trusted root certificate authority in order to log on to an Exchange Server 2007 environment using Outlook Anywhere or RPC over HTTP.

Tasks

  1. Configure Outlook 2003 for RPC-HTTP Using the RPC-HTTP Script
  2. (Optional) Install the PRF Registry Settings
  3. Log On to Outlook 2003 and Connect to Exchange Using RPC-HTTP
