Configure DNS

This section contains the steps necessary to create an entry on the external DNS server for the Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003, Enterprise Edition, Password Management Web Service (PMWS).

Perform the steps that follow to configure DNS01 for the MIIS 2003 PMWS.

Procedure DCDOM.41: To create an MIIS host entry on DNS01 for the Password Management Web Service

  1. Log on to the external DNS01 as the Local Administrator.
  2. Click Start, click All Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click DNS.
  3. Expand DNS01.
  4. Expand Forward Lookup Zones, right-click on the consolidatedmessenger.com zone, and then select New Host (A).
  5. In the Name box, type miis.consolidatedmessenger.com.
  6. Under IP address, type the external interface (static) IP address of the MIIS01 machine.
  7. Click Add Host and verify that the new host record is successfully created.
  8. Close the dnsmgmt management console.
